About The Project
Eggdivers is a colorful third-person action shooter focused on cooperative gameplay and survival against hordes of enemies. The game features a playful, low-poly aesthetic that brings a lighthearted yet challenging atmosphere to the experience.
Introduction:
Eggdivers is the most ambitious project I have worked on so far, developed during my final semester of university. As it was our last opportunity to collaborate as a team in an academic setting, we wanted to push ourselves by experimenting with new ideas and tackling challenges we had never faced before.
Challenges:
One of the main challenges was adapting all gameplay systems to support local cooperative play, which required a shift in both technical design and testing approaches. Additionally, we needed to develop versatile and robust systems that could adapt dynamically to player actions, moving away from the tightly scripted experiences we had created in previous projects.
What I Learned:
Through Eggdivers, I deepened my understanding of Unity’s Animator system and explored the use of FMOD more thoroughly, creating dynamic audio that responded to in-game parameters. I also gained experience developing multiplayer functionality using Unity’s services and improved my skills in designing precise and responsive player movement, which was critical for delivering a satisfying gameplay experience in this project. In addition to the above I also learned how to use the new input system for the use of different inputs such as keyboard and game pad.
